blinry-Suchspiel hard mode! :D
Am 10. Januar dann in:
- Hamburg @pruef_hh@mastodon.social
- MΓΌnchen @pruef_by@mastodon.social und neu:
- DΓΌsseldorf @pruef_nrw@mastodon.social
Wir verfolgen mit den PRΓF-Demos eine bestimmte Strategie. Und so sieht das dann in der Praxis aus! #pruef @pruef_de@mastodon.social @pruef_hh@mastodon.social

I applied for a 100-day space mission simulation study at the @DLR@social.bund.de the other day, and was immediately rejected! :D Probably due to my penicillin intolerance, which fits one of the exclusion criteria of this studyβ¦
Anyhow, this was the closest of being an astronaut as I'll probably ever get!

We're ready for beta testing!
Turns out that the basic functionality for the Fedi Matchmaker bot didn't take a lot of code to implement.
We're now looking for ~10 beta testers, to gather feedback and prioritize the remaining features!
The bot will match you with another participant every Friday evening. The idea is that you then schedule a call or a chat, and get to know each other a bit!
Send us a DM if you want to be a beta tester! You may drop out any time.

Here's the Python source code, if you're curious:
https://codeberg.org/Piko/fedi-matchmaker-bot
We think we'll be ready for a trial run pretty soon! So we have another question:
Imagine the bot would initially match you once per week. At which time should the bot ideally send out the DMs that you've been matched with another person?
Which downsides/upsides would these different times have for you?
(These might be other times of day for you if you're not in a European timezone.)

Started building a musical toy, where your entire keyboard is an instrument! β¨
οΈπΆ
It has three modes: In the first one, the pitch that is played corresponds to the Javascript keyCode of the key!
It's fun to look for words that sound nice! :D
You can try it here: https://files.blinry.org/keyboard-instrument/
(Heads up: The video has beepy sounds! And you need a physical keyboard for the demo.)
In the second mode, the pitch corresponds to the x position of the key's center!
So it's a bit like a... weird, microtonal piano, with way too many "in between" keys?

For listening, I think our test supervisor was more nervous that many of us β they seemed a bit worried that the audio playback would fail! But it worked just fine.
The task-based comprehension questions seemed to go okay for me, while I made many educated guesses in the "quick response" section.
The base rate for passing the N4 tests seems to be around 40%, and I think I was a bit underprepared, so I'd give myself a 1/3rd chance of passing? The other test takers I talked to afterwards seemed more confident, at least.
Results will be available at the end of January... so now I wait.
Thanks for cheering me on, everyone! :D This was fun!
The grammar & reading section went alright, and I understood many things! β¨
I think this was my best section. There also were a couple of texts I didn't have time to fully comprehend, so I took some guesses.
