hey, ebook folks!

Friend of mine is asking for Audible alternatives, and I don't really do ebooks so I don't have a clue. But I'm
sure I've seen some of you all talking about some. What are your favorites?

Happy May Day!

Anyone got any canvassing plans? Can't afford (or ineligible to use) the party-owned corporate subscription software to manage it? I've been working on this for a bit to support our local efforts here in RI, but despite not
quite being ready for public scrutiny, what better day to start sharing it than today? :)

Oh hey so I have a www now:
https://www.slightlycyberpunk.com/

It is, like most things I do, hastily thrown together from shit I had laying around in my recycling bin and not half of what I wanted but it is also...a thing that is there. Oh and there's a good chance it will break if you look at it wrong so if you're bored enough to visit and it tosses you a 500 or something let me know. Although in theory the cron job should murder and revive it eventually...

It was 100% hastily made live solely for the purposes of having a website to put on my resume and it has surely been the cause of many of my rejection letters but fuck those guys I don't wanna work for them anyway

So a leftist tells me they can't picture a world without police or authority. But presumably this is an authority that is just and fair in an ideal world? Yet these institutions seem to act to concentrate abuse. As long as there are cops, there will be abusers who recognize that becoming a cop will help them get away with abuse. So if you can create a society where even the most concentrated cesspits of abuse are not abusive...what exactly do you still need the cops for? Directing traffic??

So I made this thing I'm calling MastoWoT

A tool for generating mastodon blocklists based on a weighted average of the blocklists of the instances you trust (weighted by how much you trust them.)
Runs entirely client-side, nothing sent to my server, and is only about 1000 lines of Javascript, HTML, and CSS. Very simple, looks like ass, not the most efficient way to do this...but a good visual representation of the kind of collective, federated moderation I'd like to see. Let me know if you find it interesting?

Introduction

Well now that everyone else seems to have finished with the trend I suppose I shall post a very late #introduction! ;)

I'm a
#SoftwareEngineer, by preference and by profession. #Leftist, #Maker, and other good shit but probably I'll be posting about those two mostly.

Typically post/boost/follow for
#anarchism, #socialism, #fediverse, #FLOSS, #news and #tech. I probably delete and re-draft too much; I'm trying to get better at using CWs as appropriate; but this will likely be the only time I ever use hashtags. :)

Democratically elected eternal administrator of this private instance consisting of just me and my bots (it was a very quick and unanimous election.) 'Twas a lonely place before the Twit exodus but I have been finding so many lovely people lately and filling my feed to capacity!
