Attention Edmonton Air Quality aficionados:
The Environment Canada forecast includes the word "smoke" starting tomorrow afternoon, so you might want to air out your home while the particulate counts are still in the supergreen zone this evening.
(Thanks to @likelyjanlukas@mstdn.ca for ensuring that I will always think "supergreen" when seeing those really low particle counts.)
Now if only that brief stretch of sunshine had lasted long enough for me to eat supper & get where I was going without getting rained on...

Edmonton Regular Weekly Live Music Nights
(Updated Oct 1, 2025. Let me know of any changes / additions! I'll keep this thread pinned & update it in place. Also check out my pinned monthly calendar thread!)
#YEGmusic
Mondays:
Jazz-funk-fusion from Pazzport 2.0 at Rigoletto's on Jasper. 6-8pm, $10 (includes a $5 discount on a meal).
Possibly punk rock at The Buckingham. The Aviary & Starlite also sometimes (rarely) have touring bands on a Monday.
So much Covid in my feed again today. I've been thinking about the 😬
"Learn to live with Covid" public health messaging again.
It could have meant
"Learn to live with masking, frequent vaccination updates, virtual & outdoor events, and new ventilation requirements for indoors."
Instead, the vast majority chose
"Learn to live with everyone getting sick all the time, and some people not getting better, causing a lower life expectancy and 1% of the population becoming disabled each year."
I don't think I'm going to get this week's #YEGarts roundup posted until late, so if you're looking for something to do on this cool, non-toxic air evening, here's the link to ongoing theatre shows from last week's thread:

For the kids tomorrow during the day, there's the greenshack programs.
The only other thing I've got for tonight is Riverhawks baseball.
For the weekend, there's K-days, Taste of Edmonton.
Here are my current top sites for what's on in Edmonton:
Explore Edmonton (festivals & some shows)
Taproot (calendar & weekly newsletters)
Eventbrite (many small venues & one-off events)
Curiocity (breezy listicles, including what's on)
Songkick (mostly big concerts)
Edmonton Arts Council

Hello! Seeing a flush of new follows overnight.
If you're coming from following @AmeliasBrain@mstdn.ca on Twitter, a reminder that I've split myself in two in the Fediverse. @AmeliaBR@front-end.social for posts about SVG, web dev, and tech industry commentary. This account for gardening, cooking, crafts, Edmonton weather & events, and Alberta/Canada politics & public health.
I'm glad if you enjoy all sides of my brain, but I'm giving you the chance to opt out! I'm mostly only following back on one account or the other.
